The Granville County Library Friends of the Library is a membership organization that helps support the library through both volunteers and finances. They hold book sales, programs, and when the library needs something that is not included in the county budget, the Friends often offer to pay for these items. The large screen TV in the Thornton meeting room is just on of the many items they have provided over the years.

Books-Sandwiched-In is a weekly program that the Friends have sponsored for almost 30+ years. From 12:00 to 1:00 on Mondays, you are invited to bring your lunch, enjoy the program, and leave in time to get back to work. The Friends provide tea and coffee. Books-Sandwiched-In programs are held September through May.

To join the Friends, please come by one of our library locations (see the branch locations using the buttons at the top of this page). Annual membership dues are $5 for each person or $10 for a family.

Granville County Library System Commemorative Gift Program

Monetary gifts from individuals or organizations are used to add materials to the library collection.

Dedicating a book or other material for the Granville County Library is a unique way to commemorate special events or honor the memory of a loved one.

For each gift of $25 or more, the library will select a recently acquired book (or other library material) for dedication from one of the subject areas you suggest.

You also will receive a card from the library acknowledging your book dedication. A card announcing your dedication will be sent to the person you honored or to the family of the person you remembered.

In order to complete the Commemorative Gifts Form you will need:

• The name of the person you wish to honor or remember as you would like it to appear.

• The name and address of the person who will receive an announcement of your gift.

• The subject area(s) from which the staff should select a book.

• Your monetary donation.
