Catalog Help

Using the library catalog

From any computer with internet access, you can:

  • check the availability of any book in the Granville County Public Library System
  • place a hold on any book, which will then be transferred to the library location of your choice and reserved under your name
  • send a request for new book purchases to the library staff
  • request an inter-library loan of a title
  • ask a question or send suggestions to library staff
  • update your personal address and contact information

First, go to our catalog by clicking the link in the upper left corner of any of our web pages.

All of the above services can be accessed by clicking on the light blue oval "Request". And keep your library card handy since all of these requests will require you to enter your user ID number (all 14 digits on the back of your library card underneath the barcode).

Here's How:

Need to see what you already have checked out? How about renewing those books from your home computer? First, you need a 4-digit PIN, which is already assigned to each Granville County Public Library card-holder. If you don't know your PIN, just call us at 693-1121 and we'll be happy to tell you your number.

Go to the rectangular link "User Services".

  • "User Status Inquiry" lets you see what is checked out on your library card and allows you to renew selected materials.
  • "User PIN Change" lets you change your PIN to one you can remember more easily.
  • "Renew Materials" will let you renew materials that you already have checked out.
