Banned Books Week is September 22 through 27, 2014. This week is dedicated to celebrating the Freedom to Read – a freedom we all take for granted. This year the Granville County Library System will be celebrating Banned Books Week with events at the Thornton and South Branch Libraries.
Thornton Library will mark the event through the creation of a public sculpture celebrating the Freedom to Read. From Sept 22-24, 4-6 PM stop by the Thornton Library and work on this one of a kind construction. Children welcome ages 9+, adults, and Teens.
South Branch Library has a week worth of events planned. Stop by the library anytime to take a Banned Books quiz, participate in a scavenger hunt, or make a short video celebrating your favorite banned or challenged book. On Saturday, September 27, South Branch will host a Banned Book Comic-Com. Come dressed as your favorite character from a banned or challenged book. Workshops and costume contests will be among the events we have planned for the day. 12 Noon to 5:00 p.m..
