SAM Software

New at the Richard H. Thornton library is SAM Print & Time Management Software. No longer do you have to sign in at the reference desk to use the computers: simply use your card to sign up at the registration station. This service should also be available at the South Branch Library soon.

Once signed up, notice that the system will identify you by the last 4 digits of your library card. As soon as it says that your library card is assigned to the next available computer, simply go to that computer and type in your 14 digit library card number. You can then enjoy free access to the internet.

Important: when the system assigns you to a computer, you only have 5 minutes in order to log into that computer. Please do not think that you need to wait for 5 more minutes! If you do this, the computer will no longer be assigned to you and will assign itself to the next patron.

If there are not many people on the computers, your time will be extended automatically. If, however, there are other patrons waiting, your computer will be assigned to someone else at the end of your session. If you need more time, please let us know; or you can also sign back up at the registration station yourself: you are NOT limited to just one session per day.

Finally, you will need to add money to your SAM account before you are able to print. To do this, bring up your library card and your money to the circulation desk.

As always, the black & white printer is 10 cents per page and our color printer is 1.00 dollar per page. Please note that whatever money you do not use will stay on your card as long as you need it.
